What Should You Wear/Bring to WDW?
Are you planning a trip to Walt Disney World and trying to figure out what to bring? As a travel advisor, and a mom, and a frequent Disney goer, I am quite the expert when it comes to what to pack for a trip to Disney World. I have some tips I’d love to share with you that will come in handy while traveling with your family.
These are my top 5 things to bring to the park that you may not have thought about:
1. Ponchos- With Florida’s unpredictable weather, you should absolutely bring rain ponchos. Yes, you can buy ponchos at Disney World, but they are costly ($12 a poncho) and reusable, so you’ll have to fold up a wet poncho and carry it around. You’re much better off buying a bunch of cheap ponchos from the Dollar Store or Amazon, that you can discard. Get a bunch! They’re great for putting on a wet bench or over your stroller.
2. Portable Phone Charger- You’re gonna be using the Disney Parks app and other Disney apps throughout the day and you’re not going to want to worry about finding access to an outlet. Bring a portable charger so you don’t have to stress over that.

Thunderstorms, rain, and winds in the parks can cause discarded snacks in a flee for shelter; some transportation issues, like the Skyliner stopping with guests inside; and guests to hide out in dry places, away from the storm. However, we’re not ones to be easily deterred by bad weather.
That’s why we opted to wear a Disney-brand poncho to see how it would stand up in a storm.

). That price may seem steep, considering you can find similar ponchos at your local dollar store.
If you do want to avoid paying so much for a poncho, you may want to buy some ahead of time. You can get packs of ponchos beforehand to bring with you to the parks. They may be a bit thinner than the ponchos sold in the parks but most should do the trick!

Costumes
Kids 13 and under can wear costumes to a Disney park. Party supply stores and online stores are good places to find costumes. Fall is a great time to purchase a costume and it is usually more inexpensive than buying an outfit in a Disney gift shop.
Ponchos or Umbrellas
To say it rains often in Central Florida is an understatement. While the cast members put out the ponchos and umbrellas as soon as the rain comes, being prepared beforehand will save you money and is much more convenient. Some prefer ponchos while others, like me, prefer umbrellas. I have an umbrella that folds up small enough to fit in a small purse. You can find single use ponchos at your local Dollar Tree or other discount stores. Although they aren’t the same quality as the ones available at WDW, the convenience of being able to toss them when the rain stops makes up for that.
