As you walk around Disney World, you may see carts selling silhouettes in black frames. This custom souvenir is a Disney tradition that goes back to the early days of Disneyland itself, and it’s one of the most affordable personalized mementos at Disney World. Hand-cut by Disney artists on black cardstock, they can be purchased with or without a frame.



Sitting for a silhouette portrait takes only a minute or two. You sit still while the artist cuts the black paper to match the profile of your face. It’s pretty incredible to watch them work! They’re very skilled, and you’ll find the same Cast Members cutting the portraits over many years. The artists actually use two sheets at once, so you’ll get two mirror-image silhouettes. You can display your portrait facing in either direction – or keep one and give the other to another family member.
