Team sweden world juniors roster
There is one team that has a clear target with this tournament, and that is to win and add to that relatively empty World Junior Championship cupboard. Sweden only has two golds. Adding a third is the only thing that counts with the tournament at home in Gothenburg.
The team is built upon the under-18 team that won gold in Germany in 2022. Players such as Hugo Hävelid, Mattias Hävelid, Elias Pettersson (the defenceman), Elias Salomonsson, Axel Sandin-Pelikka, Jonathan Lekkerimäki, Otto Stenberg, Liam Öhgren, and Noah Östlund make for a very strong foundation for a team built to go deep. Adding players like Tom Willander, David Edstrom, Filip Bystedt, and Felix Unger Sörum makes it formidable.
Even with this lineup, there are two players that are missed: Calle Odelius (injury) and Leo Carlsson playing with the (Anaheim Ducks). Especially Carlson’s absence is notable as the true star power and goal-scoring touch that he provides would have added a layer to the Swedish blueprint. But every team misses someone; Conor Bedard would have been quite the addition to Canada, as just as another example.
It will be Magnus Hävelid’s first tournament as a head coach, and from w

Sweden unveils roster for 2025 World Juniors including draft-eligible Eklund
Sweden named its roster for the 2025 World Junior Championship on Wednesday, highlighted by the return of nine players who won silver last January.
The Tre Kroner named 14 forwards, seven defencemen and three goaltenders to their roster.
Axel Sandin Pellikka, selected 17th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in 2023, will make his third appearance at the tournament. The 19-year-old blueliner had two goals and six points as Sweden lost in the final on home ice to Team USA in 2024.
Vancouver Canucks' 2023 11th-overall pick Tom Willander also returns on defence and is joined by a pair of seventh-round picks in Calgary Flames prospect Axel Hurtig (selected in 2023) and Montreal Canadiens prospect Rasmus Bergqvist, who was picked 224th overall in this year's draft.
In addition to the experience of returning players, the forward group includes 2025 draft-eligible prospect Victor Eklund, who was listed at No. 11 in Craig Button's latest ranking. Forward Anton Frondell, who was the top Swedish player in Button's rankings at No. 5 overall, did not make the team.&nb
Sweden 2025 World Juniors Roster Led By Axel Sandin Pellikka, Otto Stenberg
Sweden has its team for the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship which begins Dec. 26 in Ottawa. Head coach Magnus Hävelid has announced the 24-player roster for the event led by Detroit Red Wings prospect Axel Sandin Pellikka, who will be playing in his third and final World Juniors.
Other returnees from last year’s squad that finished with the silver medal include goalie Melker Thelin (UTA), defensemen Tom Willander (VAN) and Theo Lindstein (STL), and forwards Zeb Forsfjäll (SEA), Otto Stenberg (STL), Felix Unger Sörum (CAR) and Anton Wahlberg (BUF).
The strength of this team will likely be its defense corps led by Sandin Pellikka, who has the most points among all players on Team Sweden in club play this season with 19 points in 23 games for Skellefteå in the SHL. Willander and Lindstein can also log massive minutes, providing two-way value.
Up front, Sweden’s roster is fairly light on proven scorers, but Otto Stenberg had nine points at the last WJC and has often shone brightest when wearing his nation’s colors. AHLers Anton Wahlberg of the Rochester Americans and Felix Unger Sörum of the Chicago
