McKinney, Murtagh top eligibles for Team USA at U18 Worlds

, teammates for the United States National Team Development Program, will lead Team USA’s roster at the 2025 IIHF World Under-18 Championship.
McKinney, no. 26 in
FCHockey’s Spring ranking for the 2025 NHL Draft
, led the NTDP in scoring this season with 55 points (24 goals, 31 assists) in 51 games; Murtagh, ranked no. 19, had 46 points (20 goals, 26 assists) in 47 games.
The team, comprised primarily of NTDP players, will also contain several other top members of the 2025 draft class, including a pair of collegiate.
Will Horcoff,
who started the season with the NTDP, jumped to the NCAA ranks with the University of Michigan midway through the season. The 18-year-old, no. 31 in FCHockey’s Spring ranking, had 10 points (four goals, six assists) in 17 games at the NCAA level and, prior to that, eight points (four goals, four assists) in 19 games with the NTDP’s U18 squad.
Cullen Potter
, who spent last season with the NTDP, had 22 points (13 goals, nine assists) in 35 games with Arizona State. He is no. 12 in FCHockey’s Spring ranking.

5 Minnesotans named to U18 men’s World Championship roster
FRISCO, Texas
– USA Hockey announced today its 25-player roster for the 2025 U.S. Under-18 Men’s National Team that will compete at the 2025 IIHF U18 Men’s World Championship from April 23 – May 3 in Frisco and Allen, Texas. Tickets for the tournament can be purchased online here.
Minnesotans Mikey Berchild (Minnetonka), Jacob Kvasnicka (Plymouth), Garrett Lindberg (Moorhead), Maceo Phillips (Wayzata), and Cullen Potter (Minneapolis) were all named to the team. Lindberg was named an alternate captain.
Berchild is a product of Shattuck-St. Mary’s and last season played between Team USA’s U17 and U18 squads. In U17 he played 30 games and had 19 goals and 10 assists for 29 points. At the U18 level he played in 26 games and had nine goals and seven assists. He also plays for the UNTDP Juniors team where he had 14 goals and seven assists in 34 games. In the U-17 World Championships he scored three goals and added an assist in three games. His totals for the 2024-25 season are 93GP-43G-29A-72PTS. Berchild is committed to the University of Denver.
