The Night World series is by 90’s Teen Vampire Writing Queen , L.J. Smith. She is also the original writer of The Vampires Diaries series and her name is still attached to the ghost written books of today.



This particular series contains 9 books with a 10th book named Strange Fate to be released at a N/A date.



Books 1-9 were written in the 1990’s with Strange Fate originally meant to be released in 1999.


If it’s been so long why do you still have a strand of faith?


It’s more hope, but honestly what’s the harm in running an update blog in the chance it ever happens?




DEC 2024 UPDATE




Strange Fate is finished! It's so big it became 2 books in general, as well as Lullaby which originally was split from it as well. All 3 appear to be finished, and are currently with her agent.



The names for Strange Fate are now Strange Fate:



Mystic and Strange Fate: Apocalypse.




MARCH 2025 UPDATE




RIP Lisa Jane Smith. To keep it brief for this update post, her books are with her publisher and her family believe they will be published.

LJ Smith has passed away on 8 March 2025, after her battle with pneumonia.



I've just found out and this news actually came as a gut punch to me. I saw this on a random subreddit as I was scrolling Reddit, but have verified this through a Facebook page run by Lisa's friend/relative (not completely clear on this).

I emailed her in February to tell her how much her books meant to me. I hope she got a chance to read it and understood how much she's made lives better. I'm going to reproduce the text of my email here as well, because it sums up how I feel.


Dear Lisa

I hope so much that you're well. I saw the photo of your arm you posted and it looked very painful - praying that you're okay!

I am emailing to enter the contest, but I'd also email even if there had been no contest, because I've spent the last 15 years thinking about you and wishing I could tell you how much your books mean to me.

I first read your writing when I was around ten or eleven years old, by borrowing the last volume of the Night World series from the library. I was absolutely hooked. I must have been very confused, although I don't remember it, since I was arrivi

The last battle has come; the Apocalypse is here. The lines have been drawn, and the Darkness is infusing its warriors with new power. The new Night People have partnered with dragons. They have powers that the world has never seen.  The goal is to destroy humankind.



Circle Daybreak has found four young champions to fight in this last battle; four Wild Powers to stand against the darkness.  But if one of the four should choose to go over to the other side, all the prophecies and legends say that humankind is doomed.

Sarah Strange is sixteen years old, a junior at Ann Spencer High School in Bellerophon, Virginia. She is described by a more popular classmate as a “zaftig nobody,” and has been trying to diet since she can remember. Since her mother’s death a year ago, she has been having strange dreams about dragons. Recently, her dreams have been about people from the Night World.
