Cassandra O'Malley
 is an NPC in The Outer Worlds. NPCs are not able to be controlled by the player, but interacted with and are often a part of Quests within the game. Some will play a larger role than others, and some can even be recruited as Companions.

If you decide to help her escape she says will give your Anton's Data and the quest will update  "find an escape route". You can persuade (30) her to have her people stand down. She will then ask you to clear a path and says she will pay you once she is clear.

If you help her, go back to Porter and use Persuade (45) to tell him they are standing down. You can tell him that you'll put in a good work for him and he'll pull out, you'll gain Covert Lab Security Keycard and 3333xp

Talk to her after opening the door and Lie (30), Intimidate (51) or Persuade (21) to get her to give you the research (2000xp). Tell her you didn't save her for free and obtain 1200 Bit Cartridge. You can Persuade or Intimidate (both 31) to get her to give you a further 625 Bit Cartridge.

Once you get the Unreliable off of Terra-2 in The Outer Worlds, Phineas will point you to a woman named Gladys on Groundbreaker. You’re there to pick up a
Navkey
for Stellar Bay.

Speak to Gladys on the Groundbreaker


When you arrive on Groundbreaker, your ship will get impounded, but a quick conversation with

will get that lifted. Then, you’re free to talk to Gladys.

You almost certainly won’t have the money Gladys is asking for. To help you earn it, she’ll send you off on a side mission in a new region of Terra-2 and give you a recording of a
distress signal
. Your goal is to investigate the distress signal and come back with a valuable secret or three to hand over to Gladys in exchange for the Navkey.

Doom That Came To Roseway quest, you will meet Cassandra O'Malley. She has gotten herself trapped in a cell, and needs your help to get out. But should you kill her or set her free?

When you find Cassandra, you can talk to her and discover she is the person who led the raid on the secret lab. She is not very apologetic about killing people there, but she also doesn't pose a direct threat to you, so there is no need to kill her straight away. You do need to decide what to do because she has Anton's Research, which you need to either return to Anton or sell to Gladys on the Groundbreaker. 

You can also be pretty sure that Cassandra being free will lead to more violence and death. There is a good solution, however. If your persuade skill is high enough, you can convince Cassandra to cease hostilities with the guards. Return to the entrance to the covert lab, and you can convince the guards to stop fighting with the raiders. 9 Investigate The Distress Call

The player is given an audio file containing a distress call from someone on Terra 2. To play this and advance in the quest the player must ask ADA on The Unreliable to play the message for them.

The message contains a video of Anton Crane of Roseway pleading for help. This gives the player enough info on who to look for
