Holiday world bag policy
Summer is finally here, and the kids are out of school!
If you are like me, you already have a few trips to Holiday World planned for the summer.
My boys, ages four and seven, are always excited to take the short trip from Owensboro to Santa Claus for the day. We love to spend the first part of the day in Holiday World, then head over to Splashin’ Safari for the rest of the day.
They already made a list of their top rides and slides to go on this summer. My seven-year old is finally tall enough to ride the roller coasters, so we are making sure to hit all the coasters in the park to find the one he likes the most. I am ready to go on my favorite, The Voyage. My four-year old isn’t quite big enough to ride the roller coasters, but he is really looking forward to riding the Raging Rapids and my childhood favorite, Frightful Falls.
Something I have found really helpful is making a list of the items to take with us inside the park. I don’t want to overpack and have to lug around unnecessary items. And believe me – overpacking is my jam. So, I like to keep it to a minimum. Below a list of what I bring with me when my family and I visit the park.

Ride Boarding Passes are available for Guests with limited mobility who cannot otherwise navigate queues, and for Guests with other special circumstances.
To be issued a Ride Boarding Pass, Guests should go to Holiday World Services.
Each Guest who requires an accommodation will need his or her own Ride Boarding Pass.
Each Pass will accommodate up to three accompanying family members, caretakers, and/or companions.
One or more of the accompanying Guests should be physically able to assist the Guest with transferring on and off the ride if help is required. Ease of boarding rides varies and must be taken into consideration when deciding which rides to ride. Most rides will require that a Guest using a wheelchair/ECV transfer on and off the ride.
The Guest to whom the Boarding Pass was issued must ride in order for the accompanying Guests to take advantage of the Ride Boarding Pass. If the Guest who was issued the Pass chooses not to ride, their party must wait in the ride line.
We recommend that Guests needing assistance transferring from a wheelchair/ECV onto a ride visit with a companion. Our Ride Operators/Attraction Attendants will provide information and answer quest
Are you aiming to squeeze in an exciting adventure to Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari this season?
Plan the perfect outfit that combines comfort and practicality for an unforgettable day of fun. From roller coasters to water slides, let’s dive into the must-have items to keep your whole family comfy!
Comfortable Footwear
Nothing ruins a fun day at the park like uncomfortable shoes.
No matter what, your visit will involve a lot of walking, so comfortable footwear is a must.
Opt for sneakers or well-cushioned sandals to keep your feet happy throughout the day. I make sure my toddlers wear tennis shoes to help prevent tripping, slipping, and sliding around in backless sandals. I’m a sandal girlie through and through, but we also spot lots of Crocs each visit.
Whatever you do, choose comfort!
Lightweight and Breathable Clothing
Lightweight, breathable clothing always helps with comfort when spending the day under the sun.
My typical Holiday World uniform varies between a lightweight sundress, sleeveless rompers, or athletic shorts and a tank. After a few visits, we’ve learned that taking the boys in their swim trunks, sleeveless tee and ball
At Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari, we take ride safety seriously. Violating ride safety rules (written, spoken or implied), especially failing to remain safely seated with restraints in place at all times, could result in serious injury. If you violate ride safety rules, you will be ejected from our parks and prohibited from returning for a period of time as determined by park management, based on the nature of the violation. We want you to have the best visit possible, and that means taking care of yourself before and during your trip.
Tips for your visit no matter the year:
Please be sure to eat breakfast the morning of your visit and apply sunscreen at least 30 minutes before arrival.
Once you’re here, reapply sunscreen often (every two hours) taking care to rub it in (not just “on”). Sunscreen is available free in both parks.
Be sure to stay hydrated!
Soft drinks are free in both parks and include iced tea, Gatorade, lemonade and water.
Don’t take a vacation from medication! If you’re on medication, don’t skip it the day of your visit unless advised to by your doctor. If you need over-the-counter medications during your visit, please plan to purchase them in our
